Co-op Insurance and Neighbourhood Watch have officially opened up nominations for their Neighbour of the Year Award 2019, to find the UK’s best neighbours.

Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural award, Co-op and Neighbourhood Watch are looking once again for people to nominate their neighbours who go above and beyond to help their neighbourhood and surrounding community, to find the overall UK Neighbour of the Year 2019 alongside regional winners.

Beverley Folk Festival will once again bring some fun and flare to the streets of Beverley, when Dance Teams from around the country descend on the town for the 35th annual Folk Festival.

Quick-footed performers from Norfolk, Lincoln, Newcastle, Leeds, Coventry, Sheffield and Leeds will stage a range of traditional dances, including Rapper, Sword, Border and Step Clog Morris.

On Saturday 24 March, York Theatre Royal will be bursting with talented teenagers as over 300 of Yorkshire’s young choreographers and dancers come together to perform.

Featuring youth dance companies from every corner of Yorkshire, FRESH is Yorkshire Dance’s annual showcase of the region’s most talented young dancers. Yorkshire Dance champions the development of dance in Yorkshire and this year, 20 companies will perform to an audience of over 800 people.

Beverley and Holderness MP, Graham Stuart, has accelerated his campaign to secure £40 million of funding from the government to transform the dangerous Jock’s Lodge junction. Graham said that the East Riding deserves substantial investment in its infrastructure following major regeneration deals for other areas across the North.

Having met the Transport Secretary to make the case in person, Graham has now written to Jake Berry, Minister for the Northern Powerhouse, and the Chief Executive of Transport for the North, Barry White, to lobby them to support the funding request.

At the Yorkshire and Humber NHS Regional Recognition Awards, which were held in Sheffield, the CCG’s Chief Officer, Emma Latimer, and Chief Finance Officer, Emma Sayner, won a joint award in the Leading Systems Transformation and were runners-up in the Inspirational Leadership category.
