The blue golds now out of the Challenge Cup will switch their attention to the depth of the squad as they continue their preparation for the new season.
With the squad in mind the club have arranged a friendly for their Academy side against Skirlaugh Bulls this Saturday at the Beverley Leisure Centre in a 2PM kick off.
Straight from the kick off the Braves were under pressure from the much bigger Skirlaugh Bulls outfit.
The Beverley Braves coming off the back of a disappointing performance defended well for the first couple of sets and took it to the Bulls with the ball in hand. Skirlaugh’s size advantage eventually paid off after a Braves error and they crossed for the opening score.
The blue and golds will take on North Hull Knights in their next group game in the Yorkshire Men’s League 40/20 cup. Both sides recorded opening day victories against Division One opposition.
Beverley defeated Skirlaugh Bulls 28-0 and the Knights dispatched Heworth 36-14. Scott Taylor and Pat Howdle are expected to keep faith with the majority of last weeks 17 of which they believe the best is yet to be seen.
A debut try from Ryan Anson lit up Beverley ARLC first game in the Yorkshire Men’s League 40/20 cup.
A kick downfield by the visitors was fielded by Anson, who went on a run to the line beating countless defenders running from one corner of the pitch to another.
This was the final leg of a series of very tough pre-season friendlies which the Taylor,Howdle and O’Connor had organised, and on the surface of it they will take plenty of positives against NCL 1 opposition.
This was another entertaining warm up for the season with no shortage of passion but played in a generally good spirit.
The blue and golds will resume their tough pre-season this Saturday. Beverley ARLC will again take on National Conference opposition in the shape of Hull Dockers.
The East Hull outfit should again provide testing opposition for Scott Taylor’s men. They were relegated from NCL Premier to NCL 1 last season and are looking to re-build.
With the 2017 season is now drawing closer for the blue and golds and the Yorkshire Mens League have revealed the structures of the competition.
Beverley ARLC will again as expected compete in the Premier Division. They will be joined by: Batley Boys, Bentley, Doncaster Toll Bar, East Hull, North Hull Knights, Queensbury, Sharlston Rovers, Siddal Academy
The blue and golds will continue their pre-season this Saturday with a fixture at home to Eastmoor Dragons in the 2PM kick off at the Beverley Leisure Centre.
The Wakefield based outfit, who ply their trade in National Conference Division 3, are one of the oldest and longest established amateur rugby league clubs in the game and should provide the hosts with the ideal test. They are effectively just one division above Beverley.
Beverley ARLC were on the wrong end of a big defeat as they were turned over 42-0 in their pre season friendly with Myton Warriors.
This match away to Myton, a National Conference Premier outfit demonstrated that there is significant gap between the three divisions that separate the two sides but still proved to be a useful pre-season workout.
A fantastic effort from the Braves results in 7th place Beverley Braves U11s attended the Rhino’s Challenge festival for the first time this past weekend and finished an outstanding joint 7th
Beverley Braves under 13s only had 14 players available as summer holidays and injuries took their toll on the side for their trip to the Skirlaugh Bulls.
When these two teams met just two weeks ago at Saltend, the Braves missed out on a one-point victory when a drop goal attempt with the scores tied at 16 all sailed agonisingly wide.
