Beverley under nines cruelly missed out on a victory against Skirlaugh Bulls in the pouring rain at Longcroft but were second-best in the score line only after a pulsating, end to end tussle.
Beverley had to dig deep this Sunday against a Skirlaugh side who are undefeated in the league. After some excellent games in previous weeks the Beverley Braves were up for the challenge despite having players missing on holiday.
In a very open game game which was hard to call at half time, Beverley Braves went on to win 10 – 6. The first half saw tries being traded between the Braves and Skirlaugh Bulls. Louix Gorman opened the scoring
The game started with confidence from Beverley as the ever powerful Darren Benstead charged with an explosive run for the opening drive of the match.
The last few years have seen Beverley Braves start the rugby season against top team Skirlaugh Bulls and this was no exception. A blustery morning at Longcroft saw Skirlaugh pile on the pressure from the off and Beverley were forced to defend their own line.
