Beverley’s first official game as an U16 was against Eastmoor Dragons from the Yorkshire League Division 4 in the first round of the Yorkshire Cup.
After a ferocious encounter last week against old rivals East Hull in the last of the summer 9 a side competition Beverley had to be tough in this league fixture as they returned to 13 a side game.
Beverley had to dig deep this Sunday against a Skirlaugh side who are undefeated in the league. After some excellent games in previous weeks the Beverley Braves were up for the challenge despite having players missing on holiday.
The game started with confidence from Beverley as the ever powerful Darren Benstead charged with an explosive run for the opening drive of the match.
The Beverley Braves needed to maintain their current form from previous matches against a strong looking Wyke side and it was the visitors who had the early pressure.
Some very difficult conditions were felt this Sunday morning as swirling winds blew around the field but despite this both teams played some skillful rugby.
