Following last year’s announcement of Hull’s ambition to become the UK’s skateboarding capital, skate jams, competitions and coaching sessions have now been organised to take place at various locations across the city for beginners and seasoned skateboarders alike.
Participants will learn to enhance their abilities, obtain skills coaching and advice and possibly some tips on tricks.
Hull Ladies Choir and Hull Male Voice Choir are presenting a Gala Concert in celebration of Hull being the UK City of Culture in 2017.
These two established choirs have represented the City of Hull nationally for a joint total of 186 years. With the support from Hull City Council’s Arts Development team, the event will take place on Thursday 11 May, in the magnificent Banqueting Hall in the Guildhall, in Hull city centre, surrounded by the evidence of Hull’s culture, tradition and history.
Over 40,000 people have flocked to Ferens Art Gallery in the first two weeks of its reopening.
Since opening to the public on Friday 13 January, after its major refurbishment, the gallery has welcomed 10 times more visitors to the gallery compared to same period in 2015.
For the first time children will be able to access a fully functioning art studio that can accommodate a full class enabling them to gain a real insight into what it’s like to be an artist.
Inspired by the Ferens’ outstanding permanent and temporary exhibitions the pupils will explore the processes and skills of painting, drawing, sculpture or printmaking.
