Beverley came under pressure immediately after losing the kick-off and Rishworthians camped in Beverley’s 22. After 9 minutes they were awarded the inevitable penalty and Josh Kelly made the score 3-0 to the home side.
The pressure continued and things looked ominous for the Beavers when Rishworthian’s tricky young winger Joe Billing sliced through for an excellent try which Josh Kelly duly converted to make it 10-0.
Conditions were perfect for this season’s opener between York and Beverley at Clifton Park and what a cracking match this turned out to be.
York opened the scoring after 5 minutes with a penalty from in front of the Beverley posts but a Phil Duboulay penalty levelled for Beverley after 13 minutes to make it 3-3.
Beverley rounded off the season in rampant mood as they demolished a very determined Acklam side by 67 points to 10.
From the kick-off Beverley put pressure on the Acklam line but were unable to break through. This was largely due to the number of infringements by the Acklam forwards which resulted in four penalties and a yellow card for them within the first 5 minutes.
Beverley RUFC travelled to Leeds on Saturday and were able to record their 11 th victory in their last 13 matches, this despite the disruption of arriving half an hour late due to the team coach breaking down on the journey.
This meant that the pre match warm up needed to be curtailed but nevertheless they started brightly and after 8 minutes Jack Garvin raced in for an excellent try on the right wing which Phil Duboulay converted to give them a 7 point lead.
What a great day for Beverley RUFC. Beautiful weather and the Clubhouse packed to the rafters as they celebrated Ladies Day in aid of the Charity, Hull and East Riding Breast Friends.
All that was needed to make the day perfect was some good and exciting rugby and that requirement was certainly met.
This was a great performance by a Beverley side heavily outweighed by their much bigger opponents who badly needed a win to maintain their challenge to make the playoff for promotion to North 1.

Beverley RUFC will be looking to make it six wins in a row as the Beavers head to bottom of the table North Ribblesdale in the only league fixture of the day.
The Beavers have been in rich vein of form beating Old Brodleians, Keighley, Hullensians, Bradford Salem and Yarnbury in consecutive games.
Beverley RUFC Under 14s celebrated their first home fixture of the year with a well-deserved 31-12 victory against a strong Driffield team, their first victory against their close neighbours.
With players returning from injury the Beavers were at near full-strength although, with Alex Crockett taking a short break, Harry Hessleton stepped in to comfortably fill the vacancy at hooker.
Beverley RUFC continued their good run of form as they beat their West Yorkshire counter parts Keighley to go fifth in the Northern League.
Keighley took the lead through the boot of Alex Brown who kicked a penalty in the first 10 minutes of the game though it was to be the only time the visitors were ahead in the game.
This was a poor match. Very scrappy with Beverley RUFC looking strangely under par, particularly following their excellent showing last week in the defeat of Bradford Salem.
Their passing was way below their normal standard and the intended receiver was invariably scrabbling about at their boots or stretching way above their heads.
Beverley RUFC ‘s injury problems continued in yesterday’s match against Yarnbury with Craig Hancock having to leave the field in the first few minutes with concussion following a midfield collision.
It is likely that he will not return before Christmas due to the mandatory recovery period required after concussion.
Beverley travelled to York on Saturday for their Yorkshire League 1 fixture.
