There will be a chance to join Treasure House Curator, Sally Hayes, to hear about the paintings of Fred and Mary Elwell which are on display in Beverley Art Gallery, on Wednesday, 8 June, from 1pm – 1.30pm.
This short informal lunchtime tour will provide an enjoyable introduction to the renowned artistic Beverlonian couple and will be the perfect companion event to the performances of Gordon Meredith’s new play, ‘Paint the Town Fred’, at East Riding Theatre in Beverley on 9, 10, and 11 June.
After a successful and extremely popular run in April, ‘Paint the Town Fred’, a new play about Beverley’s best-known artists, Fred and Mary Elwell, will return to the East Riding Theatre (ERT) in Beverley for an extended run in early June.
The play, written by Gordon Meredith, will be performed again from Thursday 9 to Saturday 11 June, 2022, at ERT, including a socially distanced matinee
Tickets are available now for a new series of Heritage Talks at Beverley Guildhall – a chance to discover more about the fascinating heritage of the town and the surrounding area.
Each talk will last about 45 minutes, and tickets cost £3.00 (including refreshments). Booking is advised.
This year marks 225 years since Mary Wollstonecraft’s, ‘A Vindication of the Rights of Woman’ was published – one of the earliest works of feminist philosophy.
Now local author Val Wise has published a novel, ‘The Wrongs of Woman’ which follows the 15 year-old Mary during her time in Beverley East Yorkshire.
