A solid BarceHullona team put in what is arguably their best performance to date as they hit reigning chaps Waterside for 4. The return of Nicky Moy and Mike Dixon opened up new tactical opportunties for the Barca boys and they took full advantage with some crisp passing a quality finishing. Quality moment of the night came when Lee Marshall lived up to his nickname of Legsy, by falling over…
Only two games this week in the premiership as Shanghi have withdrawn from the league (they have been replaced by a new team who start on Wed 19 May). The first game saw last season top two go head to head. The usual tight match ensued, and once again it was a jinking touch and sweet finish from Danny Moore which saw Waterside take the points over Weighton. PSV Hangover…
The opening game saw Champions elect Waterside take on Real Soldierdad, who had the opportunity to help out their mates Trogs. Waterside took and early league after Danny Moore smashed home a sweet freekick and looked to have sealed the title then Dan tucked in a second before half time. However Soldierdad are never a team to give in and made a spirited fightback in their final appearance at Soccer…
Top of the table Waterside took on BarceHullona in a must win game for both sides. Barce took an early lead with a route one goal through Dave ‘Barlow’ Barley, but were left hanging on just before the break when Danny Moore wriggled free from 2 players on to see his shot smash back off the post and out for a goal kick. Within 20 seconds of the re-start Dan…
Trogs v AJ’s was a competitive affair with neither team giving an inch to the opposition. Both teams managed to bag a single goal, but the controversy in the match came on the 6 minutes mark, when referee Patrick Browich first awarded, then took away a goal for the Trogs. In fairness to the referee it was a really difficult one to judge. The Trogs striker smashed the ball against…
Waterside went back to the top of the table after a 3 v 0 victory over Not Very Athletic. Captain Phil Clarke showed his composure in front of goal with a tidy brace and defender Gary Wiles added a third to see the boys move clear by a point. NVA put up a good performance and their growth as a team was clear for all to see. New referee Patrick…
At the top end of the league, Waterside dropped another 2 points against ONE10. In a physical game ONE10 took the lead and looked to have held out until 2 minutes from time, when Dan Moore smashed a free kick under the defending wall and into the bottom corner to rescue a point. Waterside have a seemingly easier fixture next week against against Not Very Athletic, although the NVA b0ys…
Weighton went into the opening game sitting top of the table with a 2 point cushion, but failed to maintain their impressive new year form, after being held to a 0-0 draw by Real Soldierdad. The result was disappointing for both sides, with Soldierdad looking to move into second spot at the start of the night. Apologies to Weighton for missing off their write up last week – By all…
The Black Sox continued their unfavourable form, shipping another 5 goals to ONE10. However, team skipper Andy ‘Golden Gloves’ Sanders was fairly boyed by the scorer, stating that “My back is feeling much better this week due to the much reduced need to bend down and pick the ball out of my net!”. ONE10 get back track after a disappointing week last Weds, and looked to have regained the confidence…
The opening match saw game one of a double header for ONE10, who were making up games. Their first pitted them against Deportivo in what proved to be a very close and hard fought encounter. ONE10 did most of the pressing and restricted Depo to a few half chances, whilst at the other end Depo keeper Callum made a string of fine stops. After some tough graft the game finished…
