Beverley’s Hillary Needler Downgraded by British Horseracing Authority

Beverley Racecourse general manager Sally Iggulden hopes the course’s star race will still attract the best of the North’s sprinters despite it losing its Listed status. The Hillary Needler Trophy, held every May, is the racing high-point on the Westwood but because of a fall in standard of entrants for the fillies-only two-year-old sprint, the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) have removed the coveted Listed status of the race. Bench Unveiled in Memory of Josephine Pearson

The Pearson family met to hand over £1000 to Macmillan Cancer Support on the Beverley Westwood this morning. It was also a poignant occasion as the Memorial Bench that Keith Pearson and his son Pip had bought was to be unveiled to the rest of the family. Holderness Hunt @ The Beverley Westwood 2010

Holderness Hunt Supporters Club held their annual hunt meeting at the Beverley Westwood. The event was switched to Monday as this year Boxing Day fell on a Sunday, but hundreds still turned out to see the horses and hounds, including Cllr David Elvidge and the local MP Graham Stuart. Beverley Lions Bonfire Night 2010: Fireworks & People

Thousands turned up for the annual Beverley Lions Bonfire and Fireworks Display on the Westwood. The bonfire was lit at 7.15 by Mayor of Beverley Bessie Foot and Beverley Lions Chairman Paul James.  The crowd were then treated to a fantastic firework show that was described by Lion Bill Rice as the “best ever”. Beverley Lions Bonfire Night 2010

The Beverley Lions held their annual bonfire and firework display on the Beverley Westwood on Friday 5th November.
