Beverley Racecourse Reveals Plans For New £4.8m Grandstand

Beverley Racecourse has revealed plans for a new grandstand – the largest single investment in the history of the venue.

The racecourse has submitted an application to East Riding of Yorkshire Council for full planning permission for the £4.8m development which will provide an enhanced customer experience and additional hospitality opportunities for racegoers.

Beverley Athletic Club say they are excited to announce the news that Olympic gold and bronze medal-winning rower Phelan Hill MBE will be competing in the 25th running of the Pittaway Beverley 10k road race, on Sunday 13 May 2018.

As cox, Phelan steered the Mens Eight to bronze at the London 2012 Olympics and onto gold in Rio 2016. He has also coxed the Mens Eights to three successive rowing World Championship golds.

Beverley and East Riding golf club is set to receive over £26,000 to restore the Westwood’s iconic 200 year old Anti Mill, from a pot of cash paid by developers to support recreation and leisure projects.

Last March, East Riding ward Councillor, Denis Healy, encouraged local community clubs to come forward to bid for the money, known as “Commuted Sums,” which is earmarked for leisure and recreation projects.
