Textile Amnesty In Aid Yorkshire Air Ambulance To Be Held in Beverley

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is teaming up with the Yorkshire Air Ambulance to hold a series of textile amnesties across the East Riding.

Residents in Beverley are being encouraged to take any unwanted clothing, shoes and textiles – including sheets, blankets, towels and quilt covers – to amnesty at Tesco store in Beverley on Wednesday 5 April from 4.30pm to 7.30pm.

Food Recycling Campaign To Be Launched In Eight East Riding Areas

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is launching a campaign next month to encourage more residents to put food waste into their brown wheelie bins for recycling.

All the food and garden waste collected from residents’ brown bins is recycled into compost, however food waste still makes up almost a third of all waste placed in green household waste bins in the East Riding.

MP To Visit NHS Humber Foundation Trust To Discuss Mental Health

Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart has condemned a new EU Regulation that threatens the livelihoods of Holderness coast beach fishermen and has written to the Fisheries Minister, George Eustice, to ask him to pursue an exemption for Holderness.

The Regulation includes a total ban on targeted sea bass fishing from the shore, jeopardising the future of men like Shaun Wingham, who fishes near Withernsea using the centuries-old practice of onshore fishing, whereby a net is stretched out along the shoreline at low tide and the catch is brought in when it retreats again. Sea bass is the most valuable part of their haul.
