Some good tries but on the whole not an afternoon of high entertainment value. The Yorkshire Cup in recent years has lost much of its gravitas and clubs now often use it to give their fringe and young players a run out.

Watching the two sides warm up last Saturday at the Leisure Centre, the sheer physical presence of the West Riding outfit was always going to be a deciding factor in this Yorkshire Cup tie.

A long journey out for the team on a Sunday morning for the first round in the Yorkshire cup away to Barnsley. A team we had never played before . It was to prove to be a fruitful drive out for the Beverley team.
The blue and golds will be very disappointed to have not taken both points from this encounter at Haworth Park. They led 12-0 after 15 minutes and were 22-14 up with just 15 minutes to go.They clearly have the ability to win games like this but a little bit of tactical naivety at times proved to be their undoing.
This game proved to be a tough ask against a strong Hull Dockers second string. The hosts trailed 20-0 at the break and had to play 50 minutes of the game with only 12 men following the dismissal of full back Steve Connolly.
Both these sides served up a quality pre-season friendly for the big crowd that assembled at the Beverley Leisure Centre. The West Riding outfit gave Guy Adam’s side just the kind of tough examination he was looking for, and he will draw many positives from it.
Beverley RUFC juniors were knocked out of the Yorkshire Cup at Beaver Park by Moortown. Beverley did take the lead though the side from Leeds came back to win the match 34 – 12. The Beavers Yorkshire Cup campaign may be over though the side will now concentrate their efforts on the Plate Competition. [nggallery id=1802]
A depleted Beverley Braves team saw a draw against top side Skirlaugh at home in the Yorkshire cup. With players out with injuries, the boys on the pitch really had to work hard and the first half they did just that showing they were definitely up for the challenge.
