‘Meet the Author’ talks feature a wide range of both emerging and established writers and poets. They are a chance to hear readings, learn about the creative process and interact with the authors.

Voluntary youth organisations across the region are celebrating after receiving grants at a ceremony hosted by the East Riding of Yorkshire youth and family support service.

Positive Activities Grants totalling £52,000 were awarded to successful youth organisations from across the county by the chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Councillor John Dennis, at a ceremony at County Hall in Beverley.

A new group, called ‘Tomorrow’s Youth’, has been set up in Beverley to offer those aged 55 and over weekly activity sessions which are designed to increase physical activity, create new friendships and lift spirits.

The song ‘A Place They Called Forgotten Town’ is a musical and lyrical reworking by Hull-born Henry Priestman of his late 1980’s chart hit ‘Forgotten Town’ by The Christians which was written about the state of the country at the time (the North especially), which particularly affected his home town.

HULL : Police Launch Cadet Force As They Aim To Engage With The Youth

Cadets will soon join the ranks of Humberside Police thanks to a £10,000 donation from leading Hull firm Arco, as part of the work of the High Sheriff on behalf of the Tribune Trust.

We have already recruited 30 young people – aged 15 to 18 – from across the force, who will be taking up their posts in January. And from April we will be recruiting a further 60 young people, who will be in post by September.
